What is the Tracking Pixel?
The Reco tracking pixel is a Shopify Web Pixel Extension that monitors customer behaviour on your storefront. It records product views, add-to-cart actions, checkout starts, and completed purchases — all anonymously.
The pixel uses Shopify's official Web Pixel API, which means it's sandboxed, secure, and has zero impact on your store's page load speed.
What the Pixel Tracks

No personal customer data is ever collected — no names, emails, or addresses. Only anonymous product interaction data is recorded.
Installing the Pixel
- Open Reco and navigate to the Dashboard
- Find the Pixel section at the top of the page
- Click Install Pixel
- Wait for the confirmation message
That's it — the pixel is now active and will begin tracking customer behaviour immediately.
Verifying the Pixel is Working
After installation, you can verify the pixel is active by:
- Checking the Dashboard — the pixel section will show its status as "Installed"
- Visiting your live storefront and browsing a few product pages
- Returning to the Dashboard to check if view events are being recorded
It may take a few moments for the first events to appear on your dashboard after installation.
Uninstalling the Pixel
If you need to temporarily disable tracking:
- Go to the Dashboard
- Click Uninstall Pixel in the pixel section
- Confirm the action in the dialog
Uninstalling the pixel stops all new data collection. Your existing data is preserved and will still be used for recommendations. When you reinstall, new data seamlessly combines with your existing data.
