What is Recommendation Scope?
Recommendation scope controls which products are eligible to appear in the widget's recommendations. Each component has its own scope setting, giving you flexibility across different product pages.
Scope Options

How "Same Type" Works
When set to "Same Type", the widget only shows products that share the same product type as the product being viewed. Product type is a standard Shopify product field.
Example: A customer views a pair of running shoes (product type: "Shoes"). The widget will only recommend other products with the type "Shoes".
Product types are synced from your Shopify catalogue. Make sure your products have accurate product types assigned for the best "Same Type" results.
How "All Products" Works
When set to "All Products", the widget can recommend any product from your store, regardless of its product type. Recommendations are still based on real customer purchase behaviour.
Example: A customer views a pair of running shoes. The widget might recommend running socks, a water bottle, or another pair of shoes — whatever customers who viewed those shoes actually purchased.
Choosing the Right Scope

Mixing Scopes
You can use different scopes for different products by creating product-specific components:

The Global Default scope applies to all product pages that don't have a product-specific component. You can override the scope for individual products by creating product-specific components with a different setting.
If you use "Same Type" scope and a product doesn't have a product type set in Shopify, the widget may not show any recommendations for that product. Make sure your products have product types assigned.
