Why Sync Products?
Reco needs your product catalogue to display product names, images, and prices correctly in the recommendation widget. Without syncing, products may appear as "Unknown" in your recommendations.
How Product Syncing Works
| Method | Description |
|---|---|
| Manual sync | Click "Sync Products" on the Dashboard to pull your full catalogue |
| Automatic background sync | When the widget encounters an unknown product, it detects and syncs it automatically |
Running a Manual Sync
- Open Reco and go to the Dashboard
- Find the Products section
- Click Sync Products
- Wait for the sync to complete — you'll see a confirmation message
The sync pulls product titles, images, prices, and product types from your Shopify store. This data is used to display rich product cards in the widget.
What Gets Synced
| Data | Used For |
|---|---|
| Product title | Displayed on recommendation cards |
| Featured image | Shown in the card image area |
| Price | Displayed below the product title |
| Product type | Used for "Same Type" recommendation filtering |
Automatic Product Detection
If a product appears in tracking data but hasn't been synced yet, Reco automatically detects it and pulls the product information in the background.
This means you don't need to re-sync every time you add new products to your store. Reco handles it automatically.
When to Re-Sync
You should manually re-sync your products if:
- You've made bulk changes to product titles or images
- You've added a large number of new products at once
- Products are consistently showing as "Unknown" in the widget
Syncing updates product information (titles, images, prices) but does not affect your tracking data or recommendation calculations.
